Whithin the SKU legal entity, there is the Radboud University Medical Centre (RUMC), a leading Dutch institute for medical research. The neuroscience research of RUMC is part of the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour (DIBCB), an excellent centre for science and training in cognition-related neuroscience research in which over 600 researchers work at unravelling the mechanisms of the brain ranging from human cognition, clinical studies, molecular and cellular studies and computational studies. The Human Genetics department of RUMC, with over 430 employees, is an internationally top-ranked department and among the largest genetics research, clinical diagnostics, and genetic counselling centres in Europe. Research is performed by 26 Principal Investigator groups, with genetic/genomic neuroscience as one of the most important research focuses. The Psychiatry department of RUMC has a strong focus on neurodevelopmental disorders – both in adults and in children and adolescents (in cooperation with the Child- and Adolescent Psychiatry Centre Karakter). The RUMC will focus at the gut microbiome effects on the brain and. RUMC will further contribute to the work on genetics. The RUMC group of researchers involved in DISCOvERIE includes world-class researchers and opinion leaders in the fields of child and adult psychiatry, neuroimaging, human molecular genetics, genetic epidemiology and microbiome analyses. This group is experienced in coordination and participation in many research projects/consortia, have a strong background in teaching and supervision and in innovative ways of disseminating scientific knowledge to a broader audience. RUMC and the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour are a leading Dutch institute for medical research, with several groups specialized in top-level clinical care and research in ASD and related neuropsychiatric disorders. RUMC has access to all imaging facilities (3 and 7T MRI, EEG/MEG, NIRS) as well as the labs of the Baby and Child Research Centre that are equipped with state-of-the-art research techniques for testing young children (EEG, fNIRS, eye-tracking, MRI, behaviour observation). The RUMC will be focused on the brain, and focused at the gut microbiome. RUMC will further contribute to the work on genetics. RUMC is a leading Dutch institute for medical research.
